Police have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a woman in Bristol in the early hours of this morning, April 14.

A road closure was put in place on Rose Green Road, near to Greenbank Cemetery in the Eastville area, where it has now been confirmed a woman was found dead shortly after 5am on Monday morning.

Officers remain at the scene with a cordon in place at this time as enquiries are carried out.

The cause of death is currently unclear, but the woman’s next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Enquiries are being carried out following the sudden death of a woman in Bristol today (Monday 14 April).

“We were called by the ambulance service at approximately 5.05am to Rose Green Road, in Eastville, where we understand the woman died in the early hours. Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

“We are treating the woman’s death as unexplained at this time, as the cause of death is unclear. A forensic post-mortem examination will be carried out to further our understanding of what happened. A cordon has been put in place while officers carry out enquiries at the scene.

“Anyone who was in the area this morning and may have information that could assist our enquiries is asked to call 101 and quote reference number 5225105231.”
