ITV bosses have been forced to make huge presenting changes ahead of the season two premiere of its panel game show, Password. This comes after the panel’s team captains, Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper, will no longer be part of the show, with just host Stephen Mangan remaining.
As a result, season two will see a revolving door of celebrities featuring as captains instead. A source told The Sun: “Password did brilliantly on its first outing, so it’s always a shame to make unnecessary changes, but Alan and Daisy are both incredibly busy and diaries just wouldn’t align. Something had to give, and sadly, it was their roles as team captains. “But there’s an exciting line-up of celebs ready to take part instead, and everyone’s confident the format works without them.”
The game show is based on a US version of the same name, and so far, only seven episodes have been aired during its first season.
The episodes feature Alan and Daisy teaming up with a member of the public who joins as a contestant to win cash in a hilarious game of word association.
The presenters are given a secret word known as the password, which their team-mate has to guess based on a one-word clue.
During the final contestants Prav and Bethan were given the opportunity to win a whopping cash prize of £10,000.
The upcoming series, which comes from the makers of Blankety Blank, Britain’s Got Talent and QI, will film this July and air later this year.
The insider told the outlet: “If anything, the variety of celebrity players will help keep the show fresh and exciting.”
This comes just one month after ITV axed Lorraine and Loose Women, dramatically reducing their usual timeslot to 30 minutes. The changes, which will take place in January 2026, will see Good Morning Britain extended by 30 minutes to run from 6 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
Lorraine will run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year.
During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, GMB will run from 6am to 10am. In addition, Loose Women will continue to air for one hour from 12.30pm, but again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year.
