Nine ambulances were seen in Carrick close to where a boat was reported to have capsized

Several young people have been rescued from the water off the Co Antrim coast in a major operation.

The emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident off the coast near Carrickfergus.

The PSNI, Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue and Coastguard were all tasked to the scene.

The Belfast Telegraph understands that a boat capsized in the water.

It’s understood all of those in the water, including several young people, have been rescued.

While the successful operation appears to be winding down, eight ambulances are currently still at the scene, with some still being treated.
