A play centre loved by families for its indoor and outdoor zones has opened a huge castle play frame.
The structure has arrived at Party and Play Funhouse, in Westhoughton, Bolton, as part of a revamp of the outdoor play area.
Inspired by Rivington’s famous ruined replica of Liverpool Castle, the new £250,000 Outdoor Adventure Zone opened in time for May half term and is already proving a hit with families.
Created by Burnley-based ESP Play, play centre owner Catalina Sastre, who opened at the Wingates Industrial Estate site in 2013, wanted a fresh new look after the previous play equipment – with tunnels, a hobbit hole, and a treehouse with a slide – began looking tired.

She said: “It’s taken a while to plan this, but it was worth it and we hope the new outdoor project will entertain the families of Greater Manchester and the north west for many years.”

With such unpredictable weather in the region, the play centre offers the ideal setting for families as they can make the most of the sunny spells, but shelter inside, or get some shade, when needed.

The centre is home to soft play areas for different age groups, as well as laser tag, go karts, a role play room and more.
There’s also an on-site cafe selling hot meals, snacks, drinks and sweet treats, with highchairs, bottle warming and baby change facilities.
In term time the place is open from 9.30am every day except for Tuesday and Thursday. It closes at 3.30pm on Monday and Thursday, 5.30pm on Friday and 4.30pm at weekends.
In school holidays and on bank holidays, it opens daily from 9.30am, closing at 5pm during the week and 4.30pm at weekends.
