Leeds United are looking to complete the signing of Jaka Bijol over the weekend.

As Daniel Farke prepares for life in the Premier League, the Udinese centre-back has been identified as an ideal recruit for life at the top.

Leeds have had a bid accepted for Bijol, with his medical already said to be completed at Thorp Arch.

However, supporters have been stressed somewhat as there has been no movement since that update, despite claims that the deal should have been completed by the end of the week.

As Leeds prepare for life in the Premier League, Farke will have been keen to get his business going in anticipation of pre-season.

However, the hold-up on this transfer of Bijol will surely have been causing some nerves for those in West Yorkshire after it previously looked to be a smooth sailing deal.

Beren Cross previously said he would be shocked if the deal wasn’t reached by the end of this week, but the radio silence from the Whites is not the most reassuring thing.

Thankfully, supporters can put their minds at ease as Cross has revealed that there is no big worry despite the transfer delay, despite nobody seeing it coming.

Posting on X (21 June), when asked about the delay, he replied: “You can consider me shocked, but I think the same goes for a few people at the club too. Nobody anticipated how long the paperwork would drag out.

“Been reassured several times it’s all in hand.”

Leeds ready for Bijol transfer

As Leeds look to strengthen, signing a player like Bijol should be the type of addition they need to improve their reliability at the back.

Bijol was solid at Udinese last season.

The pressure will be on the 26-year-old to hit the ground running and perform to his best levels at Elland Road, though.

The odds are against Leeds in the Premier League, with safety in the top flight no easy task and it is hoped that Bijol’s experience will come in handy to boost Leeds’ chances of survival.

It’s a big summer for Farke, but he will be hoping that the new defender proves to be one of the big signings this summer and can play a part in securing safety next term.
