Two people have been taken to hospital following an assault at a property in Sunderland. A large police emergency services presence was seen on Roker Avenue on Saturday afternoon, with around six police cars and three ambulances on site.
A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: “Our critical care team was activated at 4.44pm to reports of an assault in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland. We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 4.57pm.
“Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat two patients. The patients were taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 4.38pm today (June 21) to attend an incident at a private address in the Sunderland area.

“We dispatched two paramedic ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic and the air ambulance. Two patients were treated before being conveyed to hospital.”
