What a chaotic six months it has been for Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi.
Back in January, Kyogo was playing for Celtic in the Champions League, yet by August of the new 2025/26 season, he could be in England’s second tier and at Birmingham City.
Many in Glasgow were surprised when Kyogo left in the winter, not just midway through the campaign, but also for a relegation-threatened side in France.
It has proven to be a nightmare spell for the Japan star at Rennes, who only managed 120 minutes of football, without finding the back of the net.
But now there are suggestions that Kyogo could be back on British soil, and playing under a former Celtic coach at Birmingham.

Former Celtic coach Chris Davies helped Birmingham earn promotion from League One to the Championship last season.
The Blues, who have backing from NFL legend Tom Brady, have a big pot of money to spend, and there are suggestions that Kyogo is in their sights.

It’s understood #BCFC have made initial contact to explore the conditions of a possible transfer.

All of this talk has got the Birmingham fans excited, and many of them have highlighted his spell at Celtic Park.
It was rightfully mentioned on social media by the Blues fans that Kyogo was ‘underrated’, and how he had high-class movement inside the penalty area.
And if some didn’t know much about the Treble-winner at Parkhead beforehand, then they have watched plenty of Celtic-related content to get a flavour of what their potential new signing could bring to the table.
@Bcfckofi14 has been watching Kyogo’s goals at Celtic: ‘I’ve just spent the last 10 mins watching Kyogo Furuhashi clips on TikTok and now I will be distraught if we do not sign him. 😂😂.”

@Realintelligent thinks Kyogo would be perfect for Chris Davies: ‘Kyogo Furuhashi is a player that would thrive in a Chris Davies team. He’d be an absolutely awesome signing in the Championship. Obviously we need wingers, and his wages would be huge, but always thought he’s underrated outside of Celtic.’

@conorkeane21 thinks it would be a ‘statement of intent’: I don’t care if he’s cracking on, Kyogo would be an incredible signing. A real statement of intent.’

@ToweringZigic told Birmingham fans what to expect from Kyogo: ‘Absolutely delighted to be strongly linked to Kyogo. Have loved him as a player since he first joined Celtic – a unique finisher, genuine poacher, and not too shabby off the ball either. Let the fun commence.’

Kyogo’s legendary spell at Celtic in numbers
Look, many were disappointed and puzzled by why and when Kyogo decided to leave the club, but it hasn’t harmed his reputation with the fanbase.
That unknown figure who Ange Postecoglou brought to the club from Vissel Kobe transformed into a club legend, and perhaps the best Celtic forward since Henrik Larsson.
From scoring a hatful of goals against Rangers (eight), in big finals, and winning a Treble. There are many moments Kyogo has left behind that will be remembered for a long time.
The only shame was the fact that he wasn’t able to raise his bat and score 100 goals for Scotland’s most successful club.
