A road has been closed off after five people were taken to hospital following a crash.
Emergency services have been in attendance on Platt Lane, between Atherton and Westhoughton, this morning (June 22).
Firefighters were called out to the scene shortly before 10am, following a crash involving two vehicles.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says five people were assessed at the scene before being taken to hospital by paramedics.
The extent of their injuries has not been confirmed.
A section of Platt Lane and North Road remains closed this afternoon, according to traffic data.
A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At just before 10am today (Sunday, June 22) fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Platt Lane, Atherton.

“One fire engine from Atherton Community Fire Station quickly attended the incident which involved two vehicles.
“Five people were assessed at the scene and then conveyed to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.
“Working with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police, crews worked to make the area safe before departing after approximately 40 minutes at the scene.”
