Police were called to Holliday Street in the city centre at around 4.30am to reports a man had been hit by a car which didn’t stop.
He was taken to hospital where he remains with potentially life-threatening injuries.
One man, aged 22, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding, while a woman aged 20 and a man aged 21 have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A vehicle, believed to have been involved in the incident, has also been recovered and will be forensically examined.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Our investigation is at an early stage and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch with us.
“We would also like to speak to the man pictured here as part of our enquiries.
