Police swooped on an Edinburgh city centre street on the evening of Sunday, June 22.

Vans and cars were seen on Rose Street just off Edinburgh’s Princes Street on Sunday evening.

The vehicles were spotted around 4.15pm by a passersby on the road near Santander.

An image from the scene seems to show a number of police vehicles on the scene as well as officers milling about the lane.

The photo shows residents milling about the lane as they go about their Sunday. The reason for the presence is not currently known.

A witness told Edinburgh Live: “Police were coming from everywhere. I was out shopping and I heard sirens. By the time I got up to Rose Street, van and cars were there.”

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
