The Renfrew Bridge has been locked down by cops with bomb squad called in over a possible ‘ordnance device’.

The newly installed bridge, which only opened last month, has been closed after a possible ordnance device was found around 10am this morning on a nearby building site.

The bridge which spans across the Clyde linking Renfrew and Yoker has been closed down to all traffic and pedestrians. People have been asked to find alternative routes.

Police say Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams have been contacted.

“Explosive Ordnance Disposal has been contacted.

“Motorists and pedestrians are asked to find alternative routes.”
