Brits are being urged to buy a tin of baked beans as, according to a doctor, the breakfast staple is more beneficial than many might think. Just Eat has recruited Dr Amos Ogunkoya to launch ‘Festival Aid Kits’ – a science-approved solution to help recover during the festival season, in which more than six million people are expected to participate.

New research has uncovered post-festival tiredness cures that people swear by, from a fry-up and hair of the dog, to aromatherapy and essential oils. Around 20% of people say they down raw eggs, and 17% rely on crystal healing for a quick fix. The average festival recovery time is said to be two whole days, but Dr Ogunkoya’s science-backed Festival Aid Kit is filled with essentials that will speed up the road to recovery.

A tin of baked beans is one of the items included in the recovery kit. Though the essential might not seem like it has the means to get you back on the mend, it’s quite the opposite.

Dr Ogunkoya revealed that baked beans’ high fiber and plant protein-rich nature support slow energy release, which is great for battling fatigue. It also helps gut health, which is perfect for getting appetites back on track after inconsistent eating patterns.

Dr Ogunkoya said: “After festivals, our bodies need a lot of conscious recovery, repair, and TLC. It’s all about prioritising self-care after days of late nights, too much sun, and non-stop socialising, but many of us struggle to find solutions that actually stick.

“I’ve curated the ultimate Festival Aid Kit from Just Eat to help make the recovery period that little bit easier – with my favourite simple but effective fixes all in one place.”

Dana Grabiner, head of grocery and retail at Just Eat, said: “Just Eat knows the nation loves to make the most of festival season, but that the aftermath can also be a bit of a struggle. We’re excited to team up with Boots and Co-op to make post-festival recovery as convenient as possible.

“Whether self-care is in the form of baked beans or a relaxing face mask, our Festival SOS aisles have everything you need to feel refreshed.”

Those who are feeling the force of festival fatigue can be in a chance of winning a limited-edition Festival Aid Kit by heading over to @dr_amoss on Instagram. The kits will be up for grabs on Dr Amos’ channels from June 30. Winners will be announced w/c 30th June.

In the meantime, festival-goers can enjoy exclusive offers on Just Eat during the festival season, including buy one, get one half price on selected Boots festival items and 25% off selected Co-op festival items across the summer.
