Emmerdale fans have ‘worked out’ Robert Sugden’s tragic death on the soap in a heartbreaking twist.
Robert (Ryan Hawley) made his epic comeback recently after six years. As fans will recall, he was sent to prison in 2019 for the murder of Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), who raped his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).
Formerly married to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Robert’s ex-husband has since moved on and married his half-brother, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).
John – who made his debut last year – is hiding many secrets, including that he killed Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and dumped his body in a local river.

Recently though, Robert was back in the village for good and moved in with sister Victoria. Certain that John is hiding something, Robert is determined to expose the secret killer, while trying to win back his former flame Aaron.
However, it appears Robert is fighting demons of his own at the moment. The character has been struggling with nightmares, and last week he ended up accidentally hitting Victoria after she startled him when she tried to wake him up.

And this week, Robert started his new job at the depot. But things don’t go to plan for him, as he ends up getting sacked after John blackmailed owner Caleb (William Ash) to fire him.
And while some viewers think killer John could murder Robert, other fans have predicted a devastating twist ahead.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, people suggested he could potentially take his own life, amid his struggles to get back to normal. They penned: “I have a sad feeling that Robert may take his own life. He’s clearly suffered a lot in prison and has to watch his ex move on.”
Someone else chimed in: “Plausible.” A third then declared: “He’s definitely struggling! I really hope he doesn’t, but you never know.” Echoing their thoughts, another fan said: “I said this as well,” along with a crying face emoji.
