Northern Exposure, the iconic ’90s sitcom, has landed a new streaming home in the UK.
First released in 1990, the show stars Rob Morrow as Dr Joel Fleischman who, after graduating from medical school, finds himself being sent to an eccentric town in Alaska per the rules of his scholarship.
The synopsis reads: “A recently graduated New York City physician, Dr. Joel Fleischman, is sent to practice in the fictional town of Cicely, Alaska to fulfil his obligation after Alaska paid for his medical education.”
Joining Morrow on the cast are Janine Turner, Barry Corbin, John Cullum, Darren E Burrows, John Corbett, Cynthia Geary and Elaine Miles.
All six seasons of the show, which ran between 1990 and 1995, are now available to stream on Prime Video in the UK after being added to the streaming service.

Fans praised the award-winning sitcom for its charm and wit, with one reviewer on Google branding it a ‘true gem from that era’.
They wrote: “Northern Exposure is a quintessential piece of ’90s Americana, capturing a perfect blend of quirky characters, Alaskan fictitious landscapes, and insightful writing.
“Few TV shows achieve such a complex combination of charm, wit, and emotional depth. It joins a small group of true gems from that era—alongside classics like The Bob Newhart Show, Taxi, and Cheers…”

Meanwhile, reviewers on IMDb expressed their delight at being able to view it on Prime Video, with one viewer writing: “Was a big fan of Northern Exposure when it started back in 1990. Always wondered if it would hold up and why it wasn’t streaming.”
Another penned: “Just watching the show for the first time. Streaming now on prime video. Don’t know how I missed it but I think this is one of the best shows ever written, directed and acted. Simply love everything about it. Incredibly heartfelt, tremendous humor. Just stories of life and community.”
