Aldi is looking for new employees in Merseyside, with 230 positions available. The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, which already operates more than 1,050 stores and employs over 45,000 people, is hiring for a wide range of store positions.

This includes both full-time and part-time positions, from cleaners and assistants all the way up to store managers, with salaries of up to £67,000. Hiring stores include those in Speke, Aigburth and St Helens.

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: “As we expand into new communities, we’re excited to welcome even more people into the Aldi family. We’re proud to offer not only the best pay and benefits, but also a positive working environment and real opportunities for progression.”

The drive for new employees comes shortly after Aldi announced 115 prime locations for expansion, including Aintree, Kirkby, Upton, New Brighton, and Toxteth.

The budget supermarket currently operates over 1,000 in the UK, but wants to increase this to 1,500 in the long-term. Other areas of interest have bee pinpointed in parts of London, Manchester, the South West, Scotland and Wales.

Aldi is set to open ten new stores over the summer, while a further 30 stores will be refurbished. Some of the new locations include Oldbury in the West Midlands, Fulham Broadway in London and Brighouse in West Yorkshire.

New stores will also be coming to Caterham in Surrey and Deeside in Wales, while branches in Herne Bay in Kent and Ancoats in Manchester will be part of those that are being revamped.

The supermarket is set to invest £650m in expanding its footprint this year alone. Each new store opening will create around 40 new jobs, with an hourly pay rate of at least £12.75 nationally, increasing to £13.66, based on the length of service. In London, the starting rate is £14.05 per hour, rising to £14.35.

The company has also committed to a further pay increase for store colleagues from September 2025, The Mirror reports. This will take its minimum rates of pay to £12.85 per hour nationally and £14.16 per hour for those within the M25.

The supermarket remains the only one in the UK to provide paid breaks – worth over £1,370 a year to the average store colleague. People interested in joining Aldi’s growing team can apply online here: www.aldirecruitment.co.uk
