One of Kyogo’s teammates at Rennes has been put on the spot about reports linking the Celtic hero with a move to his former club Birmingham City.
The Japanese frontman only arrived in Ligue 1 in a £10million switch from Parkhead back in January but has failed to make an impact and could well be shown the door this summer.
Premier League side Bournemouth have already been credited with an interest in the 30-year-old and would offer Kyogo a reunion with former Hoops pal Ryan Christie.
And they aren’t the only English club to be lined with the ex Vissel Kobe attacker. Recent reports claim that Kyogo is a target for English Championship new boys Birmingham City, who are looking to make a splash in England’s second tier next season under the ownership of US billionaire Tom Wagner and former NFL star Tom Brady.
A move to St Andrews would see Kyogo team up with Celtic and Japan pal Tomoki Iwata, who was a key cog in the side that romped to the League One title last season.
Another man who could have inside knowledge on Kyogo’s potential transfer to Birmingham is Wales international Jordan James. The 20-year-old rose through the ranks with the Blues before landing a big £4million move to Rennes 12 months ago.
Brum diehards have taken to social media to quiz James on any news about his club teammate but the player has now responded by insisting he has heard nothing. He wrote on X: “Just to make it clear don’t have a clue about (the) Kyogo rumours , what a legend though.”

However, some supporters have questioned whether the 20-time Wales cap is hiding something.
One fan replied: “Nice bluff. We know what you’re really saying.”
While another wrote: “If you wanted to you (you) could find out…”
A third responded: “He is coming tho isn’t he JJ”
