ITV Racing is back on Tuesday at Newmarket for the Craven meeting and the show gets under way with a handicap over 6f. With Aramram and Elmonjed both coming from off the pace DARK THIRTY has a good chance of getting first run on some of these and will be bang fit after a decent comeback win at Doncaster. He’s up 4lb for that, but he’s still on 89 having been up to 96 in June of last year. Ryan Moore rides for Richard Hannon and he will be hard to kick out the frame if front-runners are favoured.
Up in class now for the Listed Feilden Stakes for 3yo over 1m1f. A cracking renewal. Green Storm brings Group 1 form, but might be better with juice in the ground. NIGHTWALKER was trained by Sir Michael Stoute last season and looked in need of this trip in third to Delacroix in the Autumn Stakes. I suspect he wasn’t at his best that day, and he looks really promising now in the hands of John & Thady Gosden. Kieran Shoemark has done really well for Juddmonte and this is a big ride.
Now the Group 3 Earl of Sefton Stakes over 1m1f. Ambiente Friendly should win on ratings, but he’s not a horse I like much. Hector Crouch is the latest jockey to have a go on him! I’m happy to stick with OTTOMAN FLEET who is fit from racing in Dubai for Charlie Appleby and was a decent winner of this race last year from Astro King. He can go close to the pace and might take some pegging back once again under William Buick.
The big 1000 Guineas trial in the Nell Gwyn Stakes over 7f. Verse of Love is very exciting but I’ll chance CELESTIAL ORBIT for Ollie Sangster and Jamie Spencer. The stable didn’t make much of a splash with Simmering at Newbury, but this 260,000gns daughter of No Nay Never was decent at Haydock before proving much the best and staying on well in a Listed contest at Sandown. Hopefully she is a good each-way price, although at the time of writing, I’m not sure it’ll hold.
So best of luck, and pray for Yeeehaaas.
You hear me, Paddy?
