It makes perfect sense to follow ILLOGICAL LOGIC (8.57, nap) in the Korev Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot this evening.
The seven-year-old had been searching for a first win under Rules without really getting in a blow until trainer Christian Williams made a change to front-running tactics on his penultimate outing at the Devon venue.
It would have paid off but for his fall two out with the race at his mercy, but he got it spot-on 20 days ago over the same course and 3m 2f distance to score his maiden victory at the 15th attempt.
Illogical Logic has been given a 7lb penalty as a result but now Williams (left) has found the magic formula, another visit to the winner’s circle beckons.
The same can be said of MR UBIQUITOUS (7.45, nb) at Newbury.
The son of Massaat has been in sparkling form this term with a third win from four starts over 7f at Salisbury nine days ago.
That was in an apprentice handicap and Jack Nicholls (right) – who also rode him that day – can claim 7lb, an obvious bonus, particularly as the three-year-old remains unpenalised.
