Leeds United could still make a swoop for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer despite their interest in Noah Sadiki.
Daniel Farke must add depth and quality to his midfield this summer after former loanee Joe Rothwell returned to his parent club, Bournemouth, and Josuha Guilavogui left Elland Road at the end of his contract.
The likes of Ao Tanaka and Ilia Gruev thrived in the Championship for Leeds, but the Whites must now ready themselves for next season’s Premier League.
Recent additions such as striker Lukas Nmecha from Wolfsburg and defender Jaka Bijol from Udinese demonstrate Farke’s commitment to strengthening his ranks.

While Farke’s men clinched promotion back to the Premier League, Sadiki proved his worth by helping Union St Gilloise win the Belgian top-flight title last term.
Meanwhile, Hamer has emerged as a Leeds transfer target thanks to his strong performances for Sheffield United, even though the Blades lost to Sunderland in May’s Championship playoff final.

According to The Athletic [24 June], the Whites are interested in Sadiki after the DR Congo international helped Union St Gilloise qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
But writing for Leeds Live [22 June], Kieran King revealed: “An alternative to Sadiki is Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer.
“The Whites have been linked with the former Coventry City midfielder for some time, and there was an expectation that he would leave after the Blades failed to secure promotion.
“However, new head coach Ruben Selles might have other ideas.”

Football Insider verdict
Amid the West Yorkshire side’s interest in both Sadiki and Diarra, Farke’s appetite to acquire a new midfielder has been epitomised by Leeds’ desire to sign Habib Diarra.
Leeds could sign Hamer this summer
Diarra enjoyed a strong campaign with Strasbourg last season, helping Liam Rosenior’s men finish seventh in French Ligue 1, just three points adrift of fourth-place Nice.
The 21-year-old notched a return of four goals and five assists in 30 French top-flight outings last season, establishing himself as an exciting young talent.
Diarra showed his quality when he scored during Senegal’s 3-1 win over England at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on 10 June, while his international exploits demonstrate how ambitious Leeds’ interest in his services is.
But the fact that the Whites have also identified Sadiki and Hamer as transfer targets shows that they are prepared to miss out on the Strasbourg man’s signature.
Meanwhile, Paul Robinson has tipped Sam Greenwood to leave Elland Road in favour of Sunderland in an MOT Leeds News exclusive.
