Leeds United are set to decide on Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph’s futures as Daniel Farke looks to bolster his frontline.

The Whites scored a whopping 95 goals as they won the Championship title last term, but they must now bridge the gap between the second tier and the Premier League.

As Farke looks to strengthen his squad, Leeds have already signed striker Lukas Nmecha from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

However, the 26-year-old scored just three goals in 20 appearances last season, arguably still leaving the West Yorkshire club in need of another forward.

Nmecha’s recent arrival leaves Farke with the former Manchester City man as well as Joel Piroe, Joseph, and Bamford to choose from.

Meanwhile, after failing to make a start in the Championship last season, Bamford has been linked with a Leeds exit this summer.

Joseph also endured a relative lack of game time, with Farke instead preferring last season’s second-tier top scorer Piroe.

Leeds Live reported on Sunday, 22 June, that the Whites will need to sign another striker if Bamford and Joseph leave this summer.

Football Insider verdict

After winning promotion back to the Premier League, Leeds should be keen to acquire a new striker as opposed to retaining their current forward options.

Bamford endured a lack of game time last season

Recent seasons have displayed the growing gap between the Championship and the top flight, so the Elland Road club must add tried and tested Premier League quality to their squad.

Meanwhile, Leeds have bid £32million for Rodrigo Muniz, who scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for Fulham across all competitions last season.

The West Londoners turned down that transfer offer, but the Whites should still be eager to sign a Premier League-proven goal-scorer before the transfer window comes to a close.

The potential arrival of a new forward could spell the right time for Bamford to leave West Yorkshire, as the former England international is no longer a key figure at Elland Road, having served his side well since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018.

Similarly, Joseph should be set on departing Farke’s side to enjoy more regular game time next season.

Elsewhere, former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been tipped to join the Elland Road outfit in an MOT Leeds News exclusive.
