A hero managed to rescue her after he heard screams

A young girl was trapped on the roof of a building in Bristol yesterday (Monday, June 23) after falling out of an upper window.

The girl fell onto the lower roof of a building on Stapleton Road in Easton, after 4pm yesterday.

Kamdiz Karim, 31, was walking out of a nearby shop when he heard the four-year-old girl’s screams, and rushed to find the girl panicking and crying.

Kamdiz, speaking to Bristol Live, said the girl was preparing to jump off the roof of the high building in order to escape.

Kamdiz said: “I work nearby and was walking out of a shop when I heard screams from the girl on a balcony roof, she was trying to jump off.

“I ran over and told her ‘Calm down, calm down. I’m here to rescue you.’

“She was crying and was panicking, the building was quite high.”

Kamdiz was struggling to reach the girl so as other people gathered round to help, he told one of them to grab his leg as he climbed up the railing, using one of his arms to lean against the building whilst using his other hand to reach out and grab the girl.

Kamdiz said: “I was so scared, I kept thinking what if the girl fell from my hand as I grabbed her.

“I was able to reach her and pulled her to me and then passed her to the others.

“I was always going to try and save her, 100 percent, no matter if I slipped and got injured.

“Even after the police arrived, I was shaking so much.”

“I am so proud that the girl was saved.”
