A thug admitted seriously injuring a man and assaulting two police officers in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police were called amid reports of two men fighting on Stratford Road in Sparkbrook.

One man, aged in his 20s, had suffered serious head injuries.

Members of the public tried to intervene and officers arrived quickly at the scene from around 10pm on Saturday, April 19.

Michael Pinder, 31, from Birmingham, was arrested and became aggressive as officers tried to take him to custody.

Police said he kicked one of them in the chest, headbutting another and spat inside a police vehicle.

Thankfully neither officer was seriously hurt.

The police’s Major Crime Unit carried out a thorough investigation and Pinder was subsequently charged with multiple offences.

He has since pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, and possession of a Class B drug following a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, June 17.

He will be sentenced in August.
