A teenage girl was treated in hospital after being attacked by other young people in a city suburb.

The young person, from Bulwell, Nottingham, was “lured” to an area of the East Midlands on Abbotsford Drive, St Ann’s on Thursday, June 19 at around 9pm by someone she appeared to trust, having made friends with them recently.

A video reportedly caught on social media app, Snapchat, showed the teenager sat on a bench in the area, before it appears another girl grabs her hair and pulls her to the pavement, hitting her multiple times.

It has been reported that a number of other young people then jumped into the attack, with one said to have “booted” the 14-year-old in the face towards the end of one clip.

The brother of the teenager, 25, said he saw the videos after his sister was sent them by a friend who caught them on Snapchat. He said: “When me and my mum saw them, we felt sick. It’s shocking and disgusting,” NottinghamshireLive reported.

It has been alleged that the girl, who has not been identified by the publication, has had a medical condition since she was born.

Her brother continued: ” Physically, she is 14, but mentally she is seven. She can’t concentrate at school and all she wants is to make friends.

“She had a CT scan but she only had a few cuts and bruises. It’s quite unbelievable given what happened.”

The brother of the victim said his sister can’t remember how long the attack went on for, but neighbours of the family said they believed it continued for around 10 to 15 minutes, before a homeowner came out of his residency after hearing noise outside.

Other families also responded to a post from the brother on Facebook, after the incident, with other parents claiming their child had been attacked by the same teenagers in the videos.

He said: “I want something to be done about this because it’s obviously not a one-off attack.”

Nottinghamshire Police has since launched an investigation into the situation, with a spokesperson explaining how the 14-year-old girl had bruises on her arms and shoulders, as well as scratches on her face.

Police constable Ruby Trigger, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a completely unacceptable attack on a vulnerable teenage girl. Thankfully, she did not suffer serious injury but this must have been a frightening ordeal for her.

“We take incidents of this nature very seriously as we understand the impact they can have on the victim and their family. Officers have been working hard to understand exactly what happened by conducting a CCTV trawl in the area and carrying out other local inquiries.
