This weekend, millions of people will be tuning into the BBC to watch the likes of Rod Stewart, Olivia Rodrigo and Raye take to the Glastonbury stage.
It’s that time of year again when Glastonbury coverage dominates the BBC as millions watch artists perform on stage.
This year, people will be treated to the likes of Raye, Rod Stewart, Franz Ferdinand and Olivia Rodrigo. However, there’s one music icon whose set won’t be broadcast on the BBC.
During Wednesday’s (June 25) instalment of BBC Breakfast, correspondent Colin Paterson was live from the festival as it opened its gates to campers ahead of the weekend.
He told viewers: “One other issue that has emerged over the last 24 hours is the BBC put out the timings for their TV coverage. One thing that really stood out was Saturday night.

“The headliner on Saturday night is Neil Young, he’s playing the Pyramid stage. But, BBC One are going to be showing Charlie XCX’s set from the other stage on BBC One on Saturday night.”
Colin recalled Neil Young announcing the news last year that he would be playing Glastonbury in 2025, before changing his mind when he found out the BBC were involved.
However, according to the BBC correspondent, Neil changed his mind once again and confirmed he’d be playing at the festival.

Colin added: “I asked Emily Eavis what was going on and she says she does not believe that Neil Young’s set will be broadcast by the BBC.
“There’s been all kinds of backstage wrangling and negotiations, but as things currently stand, Neil Young’s headline set on Saturday night will not be broadcast by the BBC. Instead, they’ll be showing Charlie XCX.”
As the segment wrapped up, the programme returned to Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson in the Breakfast studio, who were taken aback by the news.

Sally commented: “Colin, that is quite a change, isn’t it? Thanks very much indeed. That’s quite a thing on the Saturday night, it’s generally, I think, you see the Pyramid stage on telly, don’t you?”
Ben agreed as Sally added: “In fact, watching it on telly is the best thing.” Ben replied: “I much prefer it on telly.”
A BBC spokeswoman told the Mirror: “We aim to bring audiences as many performances as possible from the Pyramid Stage, and our schedules and plans continue to be finalised, right up to and during the festival.”
Glastonbury coverage will unfold across the BBC over the weekend.
