An Irish pub that has existed on the city’s outskirts is preparing to open its first site in the centre. Hoggin’s, a traditional venue with old-fashioned touches, has announced a third pub is coming to Seel Street. The first Hoggin’s site opened in Old Swan in 2020 by Liverpool family-based pub group, Circle and Hen. A second pub came to fruition on South Road, Waterloo, in 2023.
Hoggin’s is known for its mixture of 80s music and Irish music, alongside live bands and singers.
The new venue will move into the unit previously occupied by cocktail bar The Park, located between 54 and Sensations on Seel Street.
The new venue promises to be the perfect pre-night-out spot, combining live music and Irish soul in an open-plan, laid-back setting.
Manager Chloe O’Brien said: “We are excited to bring our Hoggin’s brand into the vibrant city centre of Liverpool.

“Since we opened the Old Swan site in 2019 it has been a very popular Irish themed site in the local area. We feel the Seel Street site is the perfect venue for us to expand the brand into the city centre.”
Hoggin’s is scheduled to open in July, 2025. Hoggin’s will be the latest Irish venue to open in the city centre after Temple Tavern in the Cavern Quarter.
The interiors feature exposed red brick walls with vintage photos, clocks and trinkets on display. There are also bookshelves with old novels and ornate hanging light features to create a dark, moody atmosphere.

The venue hosts live music sessions – an opportunity for musicians to come together and play traditional Irish music – throughout the week. Temple Tavern is split over two floors and will create 30 new part-time and full-time jobs at the new business.
The drinks menu boasts a curated selection of more than 30 Irish whiskeys. Temple Tavern says it will “roll back pricing to what you expect from a local pub” to become a “unique” venue in the city centre.
