England will wake up to snow next week with the exact date of an “unseasonal barrage” hitting. According to the maps, from WX Charts, overnight on April 24 could see snow blanket parts of Scotland and northern England in an unseasonal barrage.

The maps use data from the Met Desk, which is also used by Netweather TV. The maps suggesting a 0C freeze is coming – which are based on advanced modelling – show blotches of purple spreading across the country, as the weather turns wintry in the early hours.

In the immediate short term, a Met Office forecast for Tuesday (April 15) explains: “Largely unsettled this week with outbreaks of rain. Outbreaks of rain will continue across the south today, with some persistent rain in the south west.”

“Warm in the south by the afternoon, but cold in the north.” The o utlook for Thursday to Saturday, spanning April 17 to April 19, adds: ” Dry and bright for many on Thursday with just a few showers.

“Likely becoming unsettled again over the Easter weekend with spells of rain, but some drier interludes too.” In recent days, widespread sunshine has brought the UK’s highest temperatures of the year so far with Northolt, west London, reaching 24C (75.4F) on 12 April.

Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have also had their warmest weather of 2025 with temperatures climbing into the low twenties Celsius.

A Met Office yellow warning has been issued covering Wales and parts of western England during Tuesday and Wednesday. It will also be cooler than of late with some snow possible over the highest hills in the north.
