The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) has celebrated the opening of the new department at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by RCHT’s CEO Steve Williamson, alongside colleagues across RCHT and the project team from construction partner Kier, following its successful completion earlier this month.

In addition, the new building has some technically-enhanced features that allow staff to provide face-to-face as well as virtual clinical care, and which are already facilitating the delivery of a comprehensive range of outpatient services.
The new Outpatient Department’s project team also collaborated with Falmouth University. Final year illustration students were invited to submit works of art for one of their end-of-year modules, and all of which are exhibited throughout the new building.

“I would like to thank the project team for successfully completing construction within a very short time frame, and also thank our many stakeholders, including the League of Friends, and local residents and councillors, who have supported us along this journey.”
