A boy was knocked off his bike in a crash with car on a busy Edinburgh road as emergency services rushed to the scene.

Police and medics responded to the crash involving a car and a 12-year-old boy riding a bike on Glasgow Road at around 5.20pm on Wednesday, June 25.

An eye witness reported seeing an upset child at the side of the road with three police motorbikes, a police van and ambulance at the scene as they drove past.

They said: “On Glasgow Road at the traffic lights outside a car showroom it looks like a young boy has been struck by by a large car.

“Three police motorcycles, a police van and ambulance are at the scene. The boy looked around ten and crying although no one seemed to be badly injured as they were all standing.”

Police confirmed there were no reports of serious injuries and the driver was issued a conditional offer in connection with a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20pm on Wednesday, 25 June, 2025, we were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a 12-year-old boy who was riding a bike in the Glasgow Road area of Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and there were no reports of any serious injuries. The driver of the car was issued with a conditional offer in connection with a road traffic offence.”
