An update has been provided on the expansion of Edge Lane’s Liverpool Shopping Park as work continues on developing the site. Liverpool City Council last year approved plans from Derwent Estates, which manages the shopping centre on behalf of the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation, to expand it by 70,000sq ft.
90% of the area has been pre-let and it will take the total size of the park to 235,000sq ft. The development will see Hollywood Bowl’s unit reconfigured and completely refurbished to create a new 35,000sq ft bowling and leisure facility with a new 20 year lease agreed.
Tesla is also set to open a new 20,000sq ft car showroom on the site, having also agreed a 20 year lease. The £11m expansion will also see two new drive-thrus added to the site. They will be operated by Five Guys and Costa Coffee, having both taken 15 year leases.
The additions will join brands including M&S Food Hall, H&M, Nike, Greggs, Next, Smyths Toys, JD Sports, TK Maxx and PureGym at the shopping park.

Photographs taken by the Liverpool ECHO last week show construction work continuing at the site. The £2.1m renovation of Hollywood Bowl, which first opened in 1990, is nearing completion.
About the progress of the shopping park’s renovation James Maule-Ffinch, asset management director at Derwent Estates said: “We are very excited to see refurbishment of the Hollywood Bowl unit nearing its completion; this newly improved facility will greatly enhance the existing offering at the Park.
“Work is continuing to progress well on this latest phase of the scheme and will be fully operational by the summer, with more exciting new names to be announced in the coming weeks.”
In February, Courtney Pooke, centre manager at Hollywood Bowl Liverpool Edge Lane, said: “After delighting Liverpool for over 30 years, we are thrilled to announce that our family entertainment centre is undergoing an extraordinary makeover. This renovation is set to provide our customers with even more unforgettable experiences.”

Chief technician, Dave Porter, who has worked at the centre since it first opened, and features in the then-and-now images, added: “Hollywood Bowl has earned a stellar reputation in Liverpool and nationwide for providing affordable family fun. We’re excited to reopen our doors this spring, bigger and better than ever.
“Being part of the Hollywood Bowl Edge Lane journey for over 30 years has been a true pleasure, and we can’t wait to unveil the next chapter in state-of-the-art bowling for the city.”
