Birmingham City have sold around 20,000 season tickets for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

Blues were handed their fixture list on Thursday afternoon and will host recently relegated Ipswich Town at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Friday, August 8 (8pm).

The Championship season will begin in front of a raucous St Andrew’s crowd and regular sell-outs are expected.

BirminghamLive has been informed that 98 percent of the existing 18,200 season ticket holders renewed for the new season and Blues have rounded the number up to 20,000.

St Andrew’s has a capacity of just under 30,000 but around 2,000 are usually allocated to away fans and 1,000 are cordoned off for segregation purposes.

Blues therefore have around 26,000 tickets for their own supporters and a whopping 77 percent of them are now owned by season ticket holders.

That leaves around 12,000 supporters on the waiting list but the likelihood is that many will have to wait until Blues land at the Sports Quarter before they can get their hands on a season ticket.

For the first time, season tickets didn’t reach general sale. A brief statement put out by Blues on their ticketing channels this morning said: “Please note that, due to overwhelming demand, season tickets will not go on general sale.

“We advise not coming to the stadium or contacting the ticket office.Thank you for your continued support.”

Blues were backed by an average crowd of 26,326 in League One fixtures at St Andrew’s last season – a number which would have put them inside the Championship’s top seven last term – and that is now likely to increase.
