The Times believe that Newcastle are ready to up Isak’s wages to make him the best-paid player ever at the club to ensure their rivals don’t manage to persuade him to move away.

Bayern Munich had made a late attempt to hijack Chelsea’s move for Jamie Gittens but it seems as if the Borussia Dortmund winger is nearing a return to a club where he spent a short stint as a youngster.
