Sergio Jaén will be the artistic director of Benidorm Fest 2026 and the candidacy of Spain in Eurovision 2026, confirms Eurovision Spain. His name already sounded strongly, especially at a time when the festival is in the process of renewing its artistic proposal. Jaén had previously stated that assuming the scenic and creative direction of the contest would be a “dream” for him, and now that dream becomes a reality. Benidorm Fest will be held from February 10 to 14.

Jaén, Alicante resident in London, is the author of the scene of ‘Wasted Love’ by JJ, Eurovision 2025 winning song with 436 points, and has also been responsible for the assemblies of ‘Ich Komme’ by Erika Vikman (Finland) and ‘Shh’ by Theo Evan (Cyprus). In 2024, Jaén debuted in Eurovision designing one of the most commented assemblies, that of ‘Doomsday Blue’ by Bambie Thug. If Benidorm Fest wanted to strengthen his creative direction, he didn’t have to look very far.

After the discreet 24th place obtained by Melody in Eurovision 2025 with ‘ESE Diva’, the Benidorm Fest organization has decided to take action on the matter and implement substantial reforms to reinforce the contest. In addition to the hiring of Jaén, Benidorm Fest has announced the delivery of an economic prize of 150,000 euros to the winner of the next edition. This endowment aims to encourage the participation of consolidated and emerging artists and raise the artistic and competitive level of the contest.
