Prince Harry has been open about his dreams of reconciling with the royal family, but one expert believes he needs to issue an apology before that can happen.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious,” Harry admitted in May. However, he said his father King Charles is no longer speaking to him.
It’s believed the Duke of Sussex is trying to change that, with reports suggesting he has invited the monarch to the 2027 Invictus Games. However, former Buckingham Palace spokesman Dickie Arbiter believes there’s something Harry must do before Charles accepts.
“There’s got to be a lot to happen between now and then. You can’t just brush everything under the carpet. There’s got to be an apology,” Arbiter said.
Speaking to The Sun, he added, “The King is sort of commander in chief of the armed services, and [The Invictus Games] would be a good fit and a good show for him to appear, but it’s a very difficult one.”
A source spoke to the Mail on Sunday, revealing, “Harry has agreed that Invictus should extend an invitation to his family.”
They added that there’s a hopeful anticipation within Harry’s team, saying, “Invictus hopes the Royal Family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part. Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans.”
The royals do have a history of supporting the Invictus Games, attending events when Harry was a member of The Firm.
“This is one olive branch from him which might be reciprocated,” the source suggested.
