TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Arizona incoming freshman Koa Peat and Team USA got off to a strong start at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland.
The U.S., coached by Arizona Men’s Basketball Coach Tommy Lloyd, beat Australia 88-73.
It was all Peat to start the game. He scored seven points in the first three minutes.
Peat did get into foul trouble, picking up four by the end of the third quarter.
Even so, the forward finished with a double-double, 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Peat is looking to become the first player to ever win three FIBA Youth World Cups. He won a pair of U17 titles.
