As previously reported, JD Gyms announced in March that it will be opening its doors in the town.

However, it had not confirmed the opening date or the location of the facility, telling residents to ‘watch this space for updates’.

Now it has been confirmed that it will open in August in Viables Business Park, which includes office space as well as industrial, warehouse and production units.

The company, which runs almost 100 gyms across the UK, is owned by sportswear, fashion and shoe retailer JD Sports.

In a post made on Facebook, it said that it is ‘absolutely buzzing’ to come to Basingstoke, adding: “We’re about to seriously upgrade your workouts.”

JD Gyms states that the new gym will promise an ‘incredible, stylish fitness space’ with ‘industry-leading equipment’ including a dedicated glute zone, lifting zone, a sprint/sled track.

It will also include an Elieko functional zone, for CrossFit and functional fitness training, as well as plate-loaded equipment for strength training, free weights, cardio areas and a studio with more than 100 fitness classes a month.

The company says the gym will be open 24 hours a day, with free parking and saunas for ‘post-workout relaxation in [its] luxury changing rooms’.

The signage went up on the building earlier this month, on June 17, in preparation for the gym to open its doors later this summer.
