Transport for Wales (TfW) colleagues have raised over £1,000 in support of Seren Dwt, their chosen charity.

They raised the money through a static bike challenge, where they cycled over 220 miles, which is around the distance from Cardiff to Chester.

An event on the 3rd June in Cardiff and another in Chester on the 5th June saw them exceed their original target of 198 miles.

Those taking part had some friendly competition going on, encouraging them to cycle further, and some wore superhero costumes.

The chosen charity, Seren Dwt, is dedicated to supporting families who have a child born with an extra 21st chromosome (Trisomy 21 or Down Syndrome).

They deliver ‘welcome baby’ boxes across Welsh health boards and fund speech and language resources.

They support families and help them to feel connected from day one.

This charity is Transport for Wales’ chosen charity for the year, which means that the bike event won’t be the end of the funding efforts.

Staff will be taking part in further fundraising events throughout the year, including the launch of a Mark 4 carriage in a new livery, which will raise awareness of the charity.

Throughout the year and after, people can learn more about the charity and donate on their website.

“Thank you so much to TfW for their support this year. Every donation helps us to reach more families and ensure that every family that has a child born with Down syndrome in Wales is met with positivity and support.”
