The singer drew criticism after coming out in support of Nigel Farage
Music legend Rod Stewart had legions of fans in the palm of his hand when he took the legend slot on the Pyramid Stage during the Glastonbury Festival today (Sunday, June 29).
But one woman clearly isn’t in the rocker’s fan club and wanted to make sure everyone knew what she thought of him.
The Maggie May singer proved an irritant to one woman, called Lisa, who had been enjoying the festival in Somerset up to point the I Am Sailing singer took to the stage.
Speaking to Somerset Live during Rod Stewart’s set, Lisa said: “I’ve been here – I’ve not been privileged enough to be here for two years so I’ve come today and I’m very lucky. And know I’m very lucky,” she added.
“I know exactly what my privilege is. I know as a white woman living in Great Britain, I have a privilege.”

Rod Stewart sparked controversy before stepping onto the stage when he called for Brits to “give Nigel Farage a chance”. The performer told The Times “we’ve got to give Farage a chance” and that the country is “fed up with the Tories”.
Referencing his comments, Lisa said: “This whole community is standing up for the world and trying to make a difference and then the day before he comes out and says something like that.”
Holding a sign saying “Rod Stewart you privileged clueless w**ker”, Lisa continued: “So I went to the field and went ‘lets have a little protest’.”
Lisa isn’t the first protester at Glastonbury, nor the only one to make a political statement – the various stages have been filled with Palestine and Ukraine flags, as well transgender and other LGBTQ+ flags throughout the festival.

Yesterday, Bob Vylan drew ire and outrage when the punk rock duo started up a chant of “death, death to the IDF,” during their set at West Holts Stage. The pair were soon followed by the Irish rap group Kneecap, whose performance wasn’t aired live by the BBC.
“Yes there’s all different things that need to happen to all different countries,” Lisa added. “But if we keep on to what Jarvis Cocker said – Love. And that the festival transcends everything else. He’s 100 percent right.”
When asked what she would say to Rod Stewart if she could, Lisa said: “Be really glad that you don’t have to live in a tent fighting for water – for basic human rights – and watch your children die. That’s what I’d like to say.”
