A sex attacker has been jailed for historical abuse after a brave victim came forward four decades on.
John Conway, 79, was sentenced after an investigation into abuse against a girl in the 1970s and 1980s in the West Midlands.
Conway repeatedly sexually abused and raped the girl, who was known to him, on several occasions between 1978 and 1985, West Midlands Police said.

The girl, now an adult, came forward and told officers her story.
Following an investigation, Conway was interviewed in 2020.
In interview, Conway denied the offences, which happened in the Boxhall and Moorfields areas of Coventry.
But Conway, who had previous convictions stretching back to the 1970s for burglary, theft and handling stolen goods, was charged with rape and indecent assault in 2021.
Conway was sentenced to 17 years in prison following a trial at Warwick Crown Court.
He will also be on the sex-offenders register for life.
Across the West Midlands, police have dedicated teams of officers investigating rape and serious sexual assault.
No matter how long ago the offences took place, officers will always investigate any reports they receive.
