Calshot Activity Centre was a hive of activity on June 19, as film trailers, lorries, and cranes took over the nearby car parks and filmed inside a boat moored off the seafront.

It’s understood that film crews were shooting scenes for 11817, a science fiction horror film which is expected to release next year.

Directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier, the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) describes the plot of the upcoming film as being about a family who find themselves in a “inexplicable situation, confined within their home and unable to leave.

“As supplies dwindle, they must learn resourcefulness to survive and unravel the mysterious force trapping them.”

Leterrier is a prominent Hollywood director who found fame helming The Incredible Hulk in 2008 and Now You See Me in 2013.

He also directed the tenth instalment to the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X, in 2023.

Brazilian actor Wagner Moura and Sam Lerner – best known for his long-running part as Geoff Schwartz on American sitcom, The Goldbergs – are also slated to star in 11817.

According to IMDB, filming commenced on April 9, 2025, after pre-production began on June 8, 2024.

Residents flocked to Calshot beach when filming began in the area, with an American in clear view flying at the end of the peer.

Paul Courcha was one of many onlookers watching the film crew at work in Calshot last week.

Speaking to the Echo, he said: “There are hundreds of people walking around and they all seem to know what they are doing.

“It is quite exciting isn’t it.”

None of the film’s main stars were spotted making their way along the beach, with it unclear as to whether production will return to the area in the coming weeks.
