Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale newcomer Jaye Griffiths has confirmed that Kim Tate will make another enemy in the coming months.
The former Casualty star made her debut on the ITV soap today (30 June), with “no-nonsense” farmer Celia Daniels arriving in the Dales as she knocked on the door of Moira Dingle to enquire about some land.
While Moira and Paddy will be the initial figures to feel Celia’s wrath, Griffiths revealed to The Sun that her character will cross paths with Kim in the not-so-distant future, with the actor teasing that residents of the village will have to “watch out”.
“It’s Moira who feels Celia’s wrath to start with but – let’s put it this way – Kim and Celia will be having the odd chat!” said Griffiths. “Kim will have a competitor – we have got two women who don’t apologise for taking up space.

“Celia won’t diminish herself to make people feel comfortable and she will never apologise for anything. She is simply out to get exactly [what] she wants and everyone is going to have to watch out!”
While the similarities between the pair was noted, Griffiths shared that her character possesses a colder streak than her counterpart, explaining: “Kim does have some humanity but Celia lacks it completely.”
“There are occasions when Kim recognises her behaviour is out of order whereas Celia never does that… Most women my age would always stand aside – Celia won’t be!” teased the actor, who added that the on-screen duo would be a “strong combination”.
Griffiths, who has also appeared in The Bill and Silent Witness, previously spoke with Digital Spy about her latest role, with the actor sharing that she jumped at the chance to play a character with such traits.

“It’s rare you get to play women who don’t conform or care,” she said. “Celia is unapologetic – she truly does not understand why people would be any other way or why you should worry what others think of you.
“When she wants something, she can read her fellow humans and know exactly what to say to elicit how to get it… She reframes reality to shut you down, contradicts herself and forgets which lies she’s told people so nothing is ever her fault.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
