A man has been charged with armed robbery after an incident at a Birmingham shop.

Abdul Kadeer, 24, is alleged to have threatened a shopkeeper with a knife at a convenience store in Washwood Heath Road last Tuesday (June 24).

West Midlands Police said its officers investigated the incident and identified a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy as suspects.

The two were arrested and Kadeer, of Sandbourne Road in Alum Rock has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife.

The 17-year-old boy has been released on police bail with ‘strict conditions’ as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “A man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Washwood Heath.

“We were called following reports that a shop keeper was threatened with a knife at a convenience shop in Washwood Heath Road last Tuesday (24 June).

“Following swift investigative work, our officers identified two suspects and a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested.”

The statement continued: “Abdul Kadeer, 24, has now been charged with robbery and possession of a knife.

“He was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates today (Monday).

“The 17-year-old boy was bailed with strict conditions.”
