ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Downtown Royal Oak will be transformed this 4th of July weekend as it welcomes the Taco Festival July 3-6.
The weekend event will be full of family entertainment including live music, Lucha Libre wrestling, special guest appearances, and naturally, a wide array of tacos. The street festival will offer an exciting lineup of performances such as local bands, DJs, street artists, taco eating competitions, numerous free activities, and an abundance of irresistible tacos and tequila.
This year’s festival features more than 50 taco vendors and food trucks delivering a tasty range of options from traditional tacos to innovative culinary fusions. Attendees can enjoy a selection of flavors including steak, fish, vegetarian dishes, as well as popular summer treats like BBQ, deep-fried goodies, and refreshing shaved ice.
Both new participants and returning favorites—including The Taco Cartel, Dos Locos Burritos, Mezcal, Real Taco Express, Galindo’s, Azteca, Xav’s Jammin Caribbean, and Cousins Maine Lobster—will be part of the exciting taco lineup.
A new addition to the entertainment lineup will be mechanical bull riding south of City Hall, along with Lucha Libre wrestling inside the Farmer’s Market.
Participants who believe they can eat three tacos as quickly as possible without drinking water are invited to join the taco eating contest presented by Condado Tacos Royal Oak. Contestants who manage to eat all three tacos completely, leaving no scraps of lettuce or cheese behind, will receive vouchers for food trucks at the festival and two VIP tickets to Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats 2025 concerts for the night of their choice.
Advance tickets for the Royal Oak Taco Fest are now available. Pre-purchased tickets are $8 each, but a family pack of four is available at $6 per ticket. During the week of the event, individual tickets will be $10. Tickets are $12 at the gate.
The event’s hours are 4-11 p.m. Thursday, July 3; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5; and 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6. More information can be found here.
