The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) was called to the derelict building at 5.42pm.
“NIFRS received a call reporting a derelict building on fire at Merchant Quay, Newry,” said a NIFRS spokesperson.
“Four pumping appliances from Newry and Warrenpoint, along with an aerial appliance from Portadown, attended the incident. The fire has now been extinguished.”
Police said earlier that the Corn Market and Merchants Quay area was closed “due to a building on fire”.
