A Scotland bound easyJet plane from a holiday hotspot was forced to divert due to an emergency.

The flight, from Tunisia, was diverted to Birmingham on June 29 so a passenger could receive treatment. It later continued on to Glasgow, arriving in the early hours of Monday morning.

The plane took off from Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport, which serves the popular Tunisian destination of Hammamet, known for its beaches, some 25 miles to the north.

After departing at 8.54pm, the flight was diverted around three hours in and landed at Birmingham Airport at 12.15am on Monday.

The passenger was met by medical crews at Birmingham. The flight remained on the ground at Birmingham for over two hours before continuing to Glasgow, taking off at 2.22am.

The rest of the journey took just half an hour, landing in the country at 2.52am, reports Glasgow Live.
