Fibremaxxing is being hailed as the health trend that is actually good for your health. TikTok creators are attempting to get the maximum amount of fibre possible into their diet, and sharing their tips and recipes for doing so.
While nutritional fads come and go, experts are welcoming the focus on fibre, which is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and bowel cancer. Most of us could do with more fibre in our diet, with 80pc of Irish people not getting enough. But as with all trends, balance is key, and it’s important not to oversimplify nutrition advice or focus too much on one nutrient at the expense of others.
