STEVEN ‘Bonzo’ Daniel has fled Scotland to Dubai because he’ll be safer there than amid Scotland’s gang war madness, underworld sources have claimed.

The head of the notorious crime clan currently under siege in Glasgow is said to have vanished to the UAE over fears he’s top target in a campaign of violence.

Ironically, other rival hoods said to be ordering attacks on the Daniel mob from the desert bolthole would be scared to lay a finger on him due to the strict laws in the Arab state.

The claims emerged after the homes of Bonzo’s relatives were firebombed by maniacs driven by a hatred of the notorious crime family.

A source said last night: “Bonzo travelled to Dubai last week and apparently he’s been spotted by some expat Scots who stay there.

“Dubai has a lot of people who have issues with each other but there’s very little violence because of how strict it is.

“It’s a big place also so the chances of enemies bumping into each other is slim unless they’re in the tourist hotspot areas or one of the many shopping malls.”

We told how Bonzo’s mum Annette’s home was the latest to be torched on Monday morning as mobsters ramped up their weeks-long turf war.

Mystery hoods set fire to 63-year-old’s house in a 1am in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, before setting ablaze to her 72-year-old brother Norman’s home just streets away.

It came days after a 72-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were left with “significant injuries” after two masked teenage thugs burst into their home in Milton.

The suspects were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, with cops eager to speak to anyone who saw a dark large family-style or SUV-type car in the area that night.

Officers would urge anyone with information on this car, or anyone with dash-cam, doorbell footage or personal footage, to review it and get in touch.

Cops plea to help end Scots gang war as firebomb feud hits heart of Daniel clan

It’s understood officers are still investigating a motor found abandoned in the city’s Finlas Street to see if it is linked.

It’s understood cops are staying open minded about links between the various attacks – as well as a wave of firebombings and shootings in Edinburgh on properties linked to Daniel clan ally Mark Richardson.

The explosion in violence comes eight years after Bonzo’s face was mangled when hoods from bitter enemies in the Lyons gang attacked him with machetes in 2017.

And insiders say Bonzo, 45, is paying the price for his alliance with Richardson as Dubai-based hoods seek vengeance over a £500,000 cocaine con using fake cash.

Our source added: “Bonzo will be worried with everything that’s going on and he’s best friends with Mark Richardson.

“Bonzo is the main link between Richardson and the wider Daniel network.

“He’s already nearly had his life taken before so won’t want to take the chance staying around in Scotland.

“Bonzo’s name has been thrown around as the main Daniel man but he has no links to organised crime anymore.

“He is just looking for a quiet life now but his past continues to haunt him.”

We told how cops are urging the public to help bring the ongoing chaos to an end by providing info that could snare the maniacs involved.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry, Specialist Crime Division, said: “We rely on members of the public coming forward and giving us information.

“The key to identifying these individuals is out there in the public.

“I’d ask the public to approach the police and give us information.”
