SCOTLAND achieved a statement 21-12 win over England on day two of the Women U18 Six Nations Festival at Wellington College in Berkshire this [Tuesday] afternoon.

Scarlet Down, Bethan Mathieson and Ailsa Merryweather were the try-scorers for Scotland, with Niamh Waters slotting all three conversion attempts.

However, Lindsey Smith‘s side failed to follow-up on that excellent result in their second 35-minute match of the day, going down 7-22 to Ireland, with Poppy Mellanby scoring her team’s only try of that contest, converted by Kat Bird.

Scotland lost their opening two 35 minute matches on Day One of the Festival (last Friday) – 21-7 to Wales and 55-0 to France  – and they will now finish their campaign with a 70-minute fixture against Italy on Saturday, kicking off at 4.30pm.
