Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is being considered for a surprise move to a Premier League club.
Rohl is negotiating with Wednesday over a departure from Hillsborough after nearly two years in charge.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri is currently failing to pay players and staff which has earned Wednesday a transfer ban for the next three windows.
John Textor and Milan Mandaric have both ruled themselves out the running to takeover the club, leaving them in a perilous position before the beginning of next season.

Rohl was the youngest manager in the English Football League when he took over at Wednesday in October 2023.
The German’s remarkable achievements in tough circumstances at Hillsborough has made him a top target for many vacancies recently.

Brentford are the latest club interested in the 36-year-old with The Daily Mail reporting [July 1] the Bees want Rohl to join Keith Andrews’ coaching staff.
They state Rohl is “admired” by the London club but would be “a surprise if he leaves to work for a boss with less experience than he has.”
Rohl’s record with Sheffield Wednesday
Andrews was previously the set-piece coach at Brentford under Thomas Frank and has been on coaching teams at MK Dons, Sheffield United and the Republic of Ireland.

Football Insider verdict
Andrews’ appointment at Brentford came as a shock, in what will be his first ever managerial role.
If the Irishman is to succeed he needs a dedicated and experienced coaching team.
Brining in Rohl is an ambitious move as the German could easily take over a top Championship club or a bottom half Premier League team after his achievements at Wednesday, who he looks destined to leave.
Rohl will need to decide whether he wants to continue his own managerial career or work for a Premier League club, but in a less powerful position.
It would be a coup for Andrews to lean on Rohl’s experience of a manager who came into a top job in English football in similar circumstances.
Andrews has also become manager at a time when Brentford could lose key players.
Christian Norgaard looks set to join Arsenal, and Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of intense interest from Manchester United.
A Norgaard replacement looks to have already been found, but replacing the 20 goals Mbeumo scored last season will be more of a challenge.
