Junior Firpo has sent a three-word message after Leeds United finally ended the speculation over his future at Elland Road.
Leeds’ summer transfer business is already up and running at Elland Road with the signings of Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bijol already confirmed, with Sebastiaan Bornauw soon set to join the pair in LS11.
With attacking and central defensive reinforcements through the doors, attention on 1 July has turned towards Leeds‘ out-of-contract stars after they had discussed extensions with Firpo and Sam Byram.
Daniel Farke’s side have confirmed that loanees Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon will return to their parent clubs this summer, and subsequently made a long-anticipated announcement on Firpo’s future.

Firpo’s reputation at Elland Road has come full circle after a first two seasons to forget in the Premier League, and the Dominican Republic international has become a fans’ favourite in the period since.
The 28-year-old managed four goals and 10 assists in the Championship last season to become a key cog in Farke’s attacking setup from left-back, and many Leeds fans were desperate for Firpo to stay put.

However, Leeds’ announcement on Solomon and Rothwell’s departures was followed by confirmation that Firpo will leave the club this summer as his contract expires, and several team-mates paid tribute.
Firpo posted an emotional video on Instagram (1 July) to say his goodbyes to Leeds fans, as Jayden Bogle, Archie Gray and a plethora of United players left messages of support for him.
Bogle replicated Firpo’s attacking output from the right-hand side last season and called his partner; “My brother!” while former Leeds starlet Gray labelled the departing left-back as a “legend”.

Football Insider Verdict
Firpo may have completely transformed his fortunes at Elland Road across the past two seasons, but it took relegation from the Premier League in order for the defender to gain such an attacking platform.
That’s exactly what Leeds are desperate to avoid next season and owners 49ers Enterprises have up to 10 signings planned this summer, at least one of which needs to be a ready-made, top-flight left-back.
Left-back has been a problem position in LS11 since well before Marcelo Bielsa woke the sleeping giant in 2018, and with the likes of Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno linked with a transfer, Leeds can’t afford for their summer signings to not hit the ground running.
