Calling all wine-lovers, vinophiles, and general fans of delicious fermented grape juice – an exciting wine event is winging (wine-ing?) its way to London this weekend, and you don’t want to miss it. And no, we’re not just talking about another new wine bar opening or a wine-pairing dinner. (Although, we do love both of those things…) Instead, we’re talking about the Bedrock Wine Fair – a stunning riverside wine fair that will open your mind to wines unknown.

Following a successful event back in 2022, the Bedrock Wine Fair is once again returning to the stunning Master Shipwright’s House in Deptford. There, on Sunday, July 6 (that’s this weekend, folks!), guests can taste some of the most exciting wines from established and upstart wine producers alike. Plus, thanks to a gorgeous riverside setting, it’s an aesthetic delight as much as it is a vinous journey.

Open to both trade (aka, people who actually work in wine) and the general public, you’re likely to spot people from your favourite wine bar or store here, too. Do be warned – you’ll likely come across a fair amount of ‘expectorating’ (aka spitting). This is, after all, a wine tasting – and some people will be wanting to taste as many of the wines on offer as possible!

Who is pouring wine at the fair?

Now, you may be wondering – whose wine will I be able to sample at the Bedrock Wine Fair? There will be over 30 winemakers sharing their wares, representing “some of the most cutting-edge and committed growers working today”. These include:

  • Chateau Barouillet

  • Marius Long
  • black mountain vineyard
  • Les Bories Jefferies
  • Bota Nostra
  • Ham Street Wines
  • Clot de les Soleres
  • Clos des Jarres

And if you haven’t heard of them all, don’t worry – after trying their drinks, you won’t forget their names anytime soon.

One wonderful aspect of the Bedrock Wine Fair is the chance to talk to the very people who made the wine you are sampling, and learn about every single step that went into producing the liquid. You’re sure to come away from these conversations with a newfound interest in wine (and even wine making) or a fascinating new fact or story to share. You might even find yourself tempted to flee England and start up your own vineyard!

As well as the wine, there will also be food and coffee available throughout the day. And if you’re after a proper drink, there will also be a well-stocked bar for refreshments and well-deserved drinks.

And be sure to keep an eye out for a well-behaved dog or two…

To be as sustainable as possible, the Bedrock Wine Fair is aiming to be as close to zero-waste as possible. In keeping with that ethos, attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. These can then be refilled at the fair.

There will be a small shop at the fair, allowing you to take home your favourite bottles without having to hunt them down in London wine shops. So, are you ready to find your new favourite wine maker and learn all about vino along the way? Then head on down to the Bedrock Wine Fair this weekend.
